The 2009 Houston Brazilian Festival themed “Discover Brazil” is Houston’s first and only festival dedicated to exploring and celebrating the art, history, life and culture of Brazil. Created and hosted by the Brazilian Arts Foundation to further its mission of providing cultural education and building community through the preservation and sharing of the Brazilian Culture. On September 5, 2009, we will be exploring the cultural roots and history of the fifth largest and most populous country in the world. The 2009 Houston Brazilian Festival will feature dance, art, history and cultural performances from across the country.
The 2009 Brazilian Festival will feature food, entertainment, goods and educational activities all centered around discovering the different cultural regions of Brazil. These five regions will be highlighted through historically accurate costumes, performances and educational booths describing each region’s cultural attributes and contributions to Brazilian history, as well as influences on other cultures and economies. The regions of Brazil to be featured will be the North, the Northeast, the Centre-West, the Southeast and the South. Each of these regions has unique characteristics and offers different contributions, both socially and economically, to the country and the world. The highlights and attributes of these regions will be brought to life throughout the day for guests of all ages to explore, experience and discover Brazil! |
